Patna Women’s College Hosts Cultural Event in Collaboration with SPIC MACAY

Patna, 14th September 2024: Patna Women’s College, an autonomous institution under Patna University, organized a vibrant cultural event in association with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) at the Veronica Auditorium. The event featured distinguished Hindustani vocalist Vidushi Kalapini Komkali, who was accompanied by Shree Shambhu Nath Bhattacharjee on Tabla and Shree Deepak Khasrawal on Harmonium.

The event began with an introduction by Professor Maya Shankar, who highlighted the mission of SPIC MACAY and explained the symbolism behind its logo. She expressed her gratitude to the Patna Women’s College (PWC) community for their continued support in promoting art and culture. Dr. Sister M Jincy A.C., Superior at Avila Convent, welcomed the guests by presenting them with plant saplings and shawls as tokens of appreciation.

Vidushi Kalapini Komkali enthralled the audience with mesmerizing performances in Raag Malhaar, Bhajans, and Nirgun compositions. Her captivating display of Indian classical music left the audience spellbound. The musical showcase was followed by an interactive session, where Vidushi Komkali graciously answered questions from students, offering valuable insights into her music and creative process.

The event was coordinated by Professor Maya Shankar from Patna University and Manish, serving as area coordinators for SPIC MACAY. Mona Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, played a key role in organizing the event, with support from cultural coordinators Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the Department of History; Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. Additional assistance came from members of the Cultural Committee, including Adweetiya Sinha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, and Gautam Saurabh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce.

The event was moderated by Shrishti Tiwari, Premier of the Student Council 2024-25, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Khushi, Joint Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council 2024-25.
