Patna Women’s College Hosts Guest Lecture on Legal Literacy
Patna: The Department of Geography at Patna Women’s College (PWC) organized a guest lecture as part of its “PWC Alumni Connect” initiative. The lecture, titled “The Power of Legal Literacy: Protecting Yourself and Others,” was delivered by Dr. Iti Suman, an advocate at the Patna High Court and a Central Government Counsel. Dr. Suman, an alumna of the college from the 1995-98 batch, returned to her alma mater to educate students on the importance of legal awareness.
During her presentation, Dr. Suman highlighted the critical need for awareness of legal rights, particularly emphasizing that a safe workplace is a fundamental right for women. She explained that every woman has the legal right to equal protection under the law and to live a life free from discrimination and with personal liberty safeguarded. The session aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of their legal rights and appropriate conduct in various situations.
The event was moderated by Meenakshi Mishra, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, while Aishwarya Raj, also an Assistant Professor in the same department, delivered the vote of thanks. The lecture was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Amrita Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Geography. The event was well-attended by all faculty members of the department, including Dr. Awadhesh Kumar, Sister Anna A.C, Tulika Kumari, Jahanvi, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The guest lecture was part of an ongoing effort by PWC to connect alumni with current students, providing them with valuable insights and knowledge from experienced professionals.
