Patna: The Bihar government has approved a plan to develop tourist facilities near the Maa Badi Patan Devi Temple in Patna City. The Tourism Department has allocated Rs. 78.83 lakh for the project, which aims to enhance the experience for visitors to the historic temple.
Under the new development plan, a grand entrance gate will be constructed on Ashoka Rajpath, along with a toilet complex and a pathway extending from Ashoka Rajpath to Shershah Road. Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra has stated that these improvements will significantly enhance the convenience for devotees visiting the temple. The project is expected to be completed within the next 12 months by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, which is overseeing the work.
Earlier this year, the Secretary of the Tourism Department, Abhay Kumar Singh, conducted an inspection of the temple area alongside senior officials, including Nand Kishore, Managing Director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation; Vinay Kumar Rai, Tourism Director; and Abhijeet Kumar, General Manager. During this visit, the officials met with Mahant Vijay Shankar Giri of Patan Devi Ji Temple to discuss the development plan and incorporate feedback received from local stakeholders.
The Planning and Development Department is also working on separate projects at the temple, involving over Rs. 7 crore for renovations, including the construction of a dome, a permanent shed, and a havan bhawan (fire house for religious rituals). Following these inspections, senior engineers and architects from the Tourism Department have devised a comprehensive plan for the area, aiming to improve the facilities and cater to the needs of tourists.
