Patna Women’s College Hosts Informative Session on Decoding Budget 2024
Patna: The Department of Commerce at Patna Women’s College, an autonomous institution, on Wednesday organized an informative session titled “Navigating the Numbers: A Talk on Decoding Budget 2024” under the PWC Alumni Connect initiative. The event featured CA Pallavi Jha, Chairperson of the Patna Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), as the resource person. Pallavi Jha, an alumna of the Department of Commerce at Patna Women’s College, shared her expert insights on the subject.
The program commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Soofia Fatima, Head of the Department of Commerce and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management. Dr. Fatima emphasized that the 2024-25 budget is a promising effort to navigate the economic landscape with a focus on promoting employment, enhancing agricultural production, expediting economic growth, and improving infrastructural development.
Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal, President of the Patna Women’s College Alumni Association (PWCAA) and Head of the Department of Philosophy, addressed the students, highlighting the role of the PWC Alumni Association. She shared valuable insights for the event and underscored the importance of Alumni Connect. Dr. Jaiswal was presented with a token of respect by CS Shweta Shah, Coordinator of B.Com Commerce Professional.
CA Pallavi Jha, the resource person, was presented with a sapling as a token of appreciation by Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. In her session, Jha highlighted key areas of the Budget 2024-25 from both national and international perspectives. She emphasized the budget allocation’s focus on women, youth, the poor, and farmers. Jha provided insights into the budget’s implications for employment, skilling, MSMEs, the middle class, and urban development. She explained the changes in the new tax regime and illustrated the new tax slabs. This was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.
Nikky, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, provided feedback for the session. The program was moderated by Anushka Deo, a student of B.Com (Accounting and Finance), and the vote of thanks was delivered by Aliba Nadeem. The session concluded with the National Anthem. Students of B.Com Semester V, B.Com-Commerce Professional Semester III, and faculty members from the Department of Commerce attended the session.
