Patna Women’s College Hosts Slogan Writing Competition for World Soil Day
Patna: To mark World Soil Day on Thursday, the SRISHTI Environment Club, in collaboration with the Department of Geography at Patna Women’s College, organized a slogan-writing competition. Themed “Soil: Where Food Begins,” the event aimed to raise awareness about the fundamental role soil plays in sustaining life and agriculture.
The event, coordinated by Meenakshi Mishra, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and SRISHTI Club Coordinator, was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Amrita Chowdhury, Head of the Geography Department. A panel of judges, including Dr. Medha from the Department of Psychology and Geography faculty members Tulika Kumari and Jhanvi, evaluated the participants’ submissions.
A total of 33 students took part in the competition. Kahkashan Perween, a sixth-semester Economics student, secured first place, while Priyanshi Kumari from fourth-semester Mathematics claimed second place. The third position was awarded to Swati Priya of the Psychology Department.
The event was managed by Stuti Singh, Environment and Discipline Secretary, and Preeti Singh, General Secretary of the Student Council for 2024-2025. The competition highlighted the college’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and engaging students in meaningful initiatives.
