Patna Women’s College Students Celebrate World Environment Day with Eco-Friendly Tote Bag Contest

Students from Patna Women’s College marked World Environment Day with a virtual tote bag competition to spread awareness about reducing plastic waste.

Patna: To celebrate World Environment Day 2025, Patna Women’s College organised a virtual event focusing on the theme “Reduction of Plastic Waste.” The main attraction of the programme was a “Tote Bag Making Competition,” which saw enthusiastic participation from over 50 students. The event was held online through Zoom.

The programme was organised by the Eco Task Force and the Department of Zoology in collaboration with the SRISHTI Environment Club. Dr Sumeet Ranjan, Secretary of the Eco Task Force and Assistant Professor in the Zoology Department, coordinated the event. The programme was held under the guidance of Dr Shobha Srivastava, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Vice President of the Eco Task Force.

The event began with a welcome speech by Shailja Gautam, Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council 2025–2026. She spoke about the importance of sustainability and praised the creativity of the participants. A special moment of the event was a poem titled “Plastic,” written and presented by Dr Neetu from the Zoology Department, which highlighted the problems caused by plastic pollution.

Students presented their handmade tote bags, each reflecting creativity and concern for the environment. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by Megha Kumari, Joint Secretary of the Student Council. She thanked all the students, teachers, and organisers for making the event a success. The organisers also appreciated the support of Dr Amrita Chowdhary and Meenakshi Mishra, who have played a key role in promoting eco-friendly activities in the college.
