Patna’s Double- Decker Road and Gandhi Setu Parallel Bridge Nearing Completion

Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Saturday conducted a field inspection of two major infrastructure projects in Patna: the double-decker road from Kargil Chowk to Science College via Ashok Raj Path and the four-lane bridge under construction parallel to the Mahatma Gandhi Setu.

The minister reviewed the progress of the elevated corridor, which aims to ease congestion along Ashok Raj Path, a key arterial road dotted with educational institutions. The lower deck of the corridor spans 1,449.30 metres, while the upper deck extends 2,175.50 metres, with a deck width of 8.50 metres. The project has received administrative approval for Rs 422 crore and is in its final stages of construction.

Highlighting the benefits of the project, the minister stated that once operational, the corridor would significantly reduce travel time for students and commuters. He instructed engineers to expedite the completion process to make the corridor accessible to the public at the earliest.

During the site visit, the minister also inspected the four-lane bridge being built parallel to the Gandhi Setu, a crucial link between Patna and North Bihar. The construction of the bridge, undertaken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, commenced in May 2023 and is targeted for completion by March 2027.
