Bhabhua/Patna: In a development that has ruffled more than just feathers, eleven teachers from Kaimur district’s Jhali Upgraded Middle School have been suspended for hosting what can only be described as an impromptu MasterChef: School Edition during class hours.
The now-infamous “chicken party,” which took place on Tuesday, was reportedly cooked up in the school premises while students were presumably left to fend for themselves—educationally, if not gastronomically. The culinary escapade came to light after a video of the feast went viral, causing widespread clucking on social media and a swift response from education officials.
Acting faster than a hot tandoor, District Education Officer Akshay Kumar Pandey and DPO Krishna Murari Gupta promptly suspended the eleven educators, citing findings from a two-member investigation team led by the eagle-eyed Rampur BDO Drishti Pathak.
The suspended teachers include ten from Jhali Upgraded Middle School and one from Madhya Vidyalaya Pandeypur. They have been reassigned—presumably to more poultry-free duties—at various Block Education Offices during their suspension period.
Among those now pecking at paperwork instead of poultry are Rasida Khatoon, Shalini Kumari, Brijesh Kumar Yadav, Arun Kumar Singh, Iqbal Ahmed, Urmila Kumari, Sahban Khan, Rishu Singh, Sarfaraz Rain, Jairam Ram, and Vijay Paswan.
“This is a serious breach of discipline,” officials clucked sternly. “Schools are meant for learning, not lunch parties.” Recommendations for further departmental action have been made, suggesting that this may be only the first course of consequences for the teachers involved.
The suspended staff have yet to comment, though unconfirmed reports suggest they may now be wary of bringing even a boiled egg to work.
