Patna: Patna’s first hydraulic parking facility became operational on Friday, marking a significant step towards addressing the city’s parking crisis and easing traffic congestion. The six-storey parking complex, built near Maurya Lok, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the final day of his Pragati Yatra. The CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 623 projects worth Rs 1,404 crore in Patna.

The newly launched multi-level parking facility, constructed under the Patna Smart City project, will provide space for 156 vehicles and reduce the need for roadside parking in the Dakbungla area. Built at a cost of Rs 28 crore, the facility is divided into two interconnected sections, one near Maurya Lok Complex and the other near Kotwali T Point, linked via a foot overbridge.

The hydraulic system, based on a dolly mechanism, allows vehicles to be placed on a platform that moves vertically and horizontally to an available slot. This modern solution is expected to benefit visitors to key locations such as ISKCON Temple, Maurya Lok, and the Patna Planetarium, making parking more convenient.
