Patna: Patna Sahib MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has expressed gratitude to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for approving key infrastructure projects in Patna city and Patna Sahib during his Pragati Yatra on Friday.
Prasad highlighted that his long-standing demand for constructing a road over the drains of Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri has finally been approved. This initiative follows similar projects in Mandiri, Saidpur, and Bakarganj, with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) also being prepared for the renovation of Baba Chowk Nala. The development is expected to address waterlogging issues and significantly improve connectivity across the city.
During the Pragati Yatra, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 623 schemes worth over Rs 1,404 crore. These include the proposed construction of a four-lane road with an underground drain over the Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri Nala, the inauguration of a newly built multi-storey hydraulic parking facility at Maurya Lok Complex, and the opening of a two-storey wedding market.
For rural development, Prasad acknowledged the approval of a plan to connect NH-83 via the Punpun Dam from Didarganj Chowk, which will now be handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This move is expected to accelerate development in areas such as Fatuha and Sampatchak. Additionally, new road construction projects have been sanctioned, including the Patna-Jehanabad route via Sampatchak-Gaurichak-Beldarichak, and the widening of the Parsa-Sampatchak Road.
The MP further urged the Chief Minister to prioritize road repairs and drainage improvements in key localities such as Rajendra Nagar, Kankarbagh, Pataliputra Colony, and Rajvanshi Nagar. He also pressed for the speedy expansion and renovation of the Patna airstrip. In response, CM Nitish announced 32 additional schemes aimed at boosting infrastructure across the capital.
