Patna : Work is progressing rapidly to enhance public amenities along Patna’s Ganga Path, with sitting and parking facilities expected to be ready by April. The project, part of the Patna Smart City initiative, aims to improve the 2 km stretch from LCT Ghat to Kurji Ghat, where a no-vending zone is being established.
No-Vending Zone and Development Work
Authorities have declared that the section between LCT Ghat and Kurji Ghat will be a no-vending zone, prohibiting commercial activity in the area. While initial plans included constructing a walking track along the lower section of the path and adding stairs for access, these elements have now been put on hold.
The overall development work is being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs36.86 crore, with a focus on providing seating areas, parking facilities, and other amenities for the public.
Planned Facilities
In addition to the no-vending zone, the project will introduce several new facilities:
- Benches will be installed between planter beds for seating.
- Pink toilets and mobile toilet facilities will be available.
- Parking areas will be constructed near Digha Golambar and the Ganga Channel Bridge.
- More than 150 locations within a 7 km radius beyond Digha Golambar will be developed with roundabouts and rotary intersections to ease traffic flow.
- A proposed vending zone near Digha Golambar will house 500 fabric shops.g
