Patna’s Marine Drive Gets New Links: Faster Access to Major Hospitals and Key Areas
Patna: On the occasion of Kalash Sthapana for Durga Puja, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated two new link roads in Patna, providing a significant boost to the city’s connectivity. JP Ganga Path, also known as Marine Drive, is now linked to Ashok Rajpath, reducing travel time between Patna AIIMS, NMCH, and PMCH to just 25 minutes. This new connection is expected to greatly ease the movement of patients and their families between these major hospitals.
The newly inaugurated link roads—Krishna Ghat Link Road near Science College and Gaighat Up Ramp Link Road—will provide faster access to JP Ganga Path from crowded areas like Gandhi Maidan and Patna College. The link road is expected to cut travel time from areas like Digha, Danapur, and Sonpur to Ashok Rajpath from one hour to just 10 minutes, offering significant relief from traffic congestion. The connection also simplifies the journey from Ashok Rajpath to Gaighat, now taking just 20 minutes.
JP Ganga Path, which spans 20.5 kilometers from Digha to Didarganj, is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The project, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 3,831 crore, aims to provide rapid connectivity across the city, with six underpasses already completed along the route. The new road will link key areas like Atal Path, AN Sinha, and Patna City Railway Station to Ashok Rajpath and other important locations such as Krishna Ghat and Gaighat.
