Pink Buses to Roll Out Across Bihar for Women’s Safety from April

Patna : The Bihar government is set to launch a pink bus service to ensure safer travel for women, with operations beginning in April across Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Purnia. The service, running from 6 am to 9 pm, is aimed at providing secure and reliable public transport for women in urban areas.
Routes and Accessibility
In Patna, the pink buses will cover key locations, including women’s colleges, schools, hospitals, and railway stations. The planned routes include:
Patna City to Danapur
Bypass to Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Anisabad, Phulwari
Boring Road to Pataliputra, Kurji, Digha
A bus will be available every hour on each route, with fares kept affordable, ranging from Rs6 to Rs25.
Safety Features and Monitoring
Each bus will be equipped with panic buttons under every seat, allowing passengers to seek immediate assistance in case of an emergency. The buses will also be fitted with GPS tracking, enabling real-time monitoring from a central control room.
Implementation Timeline
A fleet of 20 pink buses has been procured in the first phase, with 10 buses assigned to Patna and the remaining 10 to Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Purnia. The vehicles, sourced from Ropar in Punjab, are expected to arrive by the end of March, with full-scale operations commencing in early April.
