PM Modi Inaugurates 13 Health Projects in Bihar, Emphasizes Welfare of the Poor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Sunday by inaugurating 13 health-related projects in Bihar via video conference, a significant step towards bolstering the state’s healthcare infrastructure. Bihar Health Minister Samrat Chaudhary, alongside Additional Chief Secretary of Health Pratyaya Amrit and other departmental officials, graced the virtual inauguration ceremony.

The Prime Minister’s agenda for Sunday included the inauguration and foundation stone laying of healthcare projects not only in Bihar but also across several other states nationwide, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing public health facilities.

Among the projects inaugurated in Bihar were the Government Medical College in Purnia, Model Hospital in Nalanda, and 11 community health centers. Praising the strides made in Bihar’s healthcare sector, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the imperative of sustaining efforts for the welfare of the underprivileged.

According to the Health Department, the Government Medical College in Purnia was built at a cost of Rs 421.88 crore, while the Model Hospital in Nalanda saw an investment of approximately Rs 47.68 crore.

In addition to the Bihar projects, PM Modi dedicated AIIMS Rajkot along with facilities in Bhatinda, Jammu, Kalyani, and Mangalagiri to the nation. He also inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for various health infrastructure projects, including those under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, medical education initiatives, and schemes falling under the National Health Mission.

The inauguration ceremony also encompassed the establishment of community health centers in Guraru (Gaya), Dobhi Sherghati (Gaya), Neemchak Bathani (Gaya), and several other locations across the state. These health centers, including one in each of Gaya, Kaimur, Madhubani, Nalanda, Saharsa, Begusarai, and Jamui districts, were constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7.69 crore per building.
