PM Modi to Inaugurate Redevelopment of 33 Bihar Railway Stations via Video Conference, Passenger Facilities Enhanced
Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the redevelopment of 33 railway stations in Bihar as part of a larger initiative to rejuvenate 554 railway stations and construct 1500 road overbridges and underbridges across India. The unveiling ceremony, to be conducted via video conferencing on Monday, marks a significant milestone under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Tarun Prakash, General Manager of East Central Railway, disclosed this information during a press conference on Sunday, detailing the extensive infrastructure overhaul planned for Bihar’s transportation network. The redevelopment initiative encompasses 72 road overbridges, underbridges, and limited height subways (ROB, RUB, LHS) within the state.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 23 stations, along with 29 ROBs and 50 RUBs and LHSs under the purview of the East Central Railway, at an estimated cost of Rs 3029 crore. Of these stations, 21 are located in Bihar, with the remaining two situated in Jharkhand.
Passengers can anticipate a host of amenities and improvements under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including refurbished station buildings, enhanced entry and exit gates, upgraded footover bridges, modern concourses, improved platforms, expanded parking facilities, provisions for the disabled, upgraded lighting, seating arrangements, clean drinking water facilities, improved approach roads, advanced signaling systems, and aesthetically pleasing beautification efforts.
Additionally, the construction of new road overbridges and underpasses is poised to enhance road safety and alleviate traffic congestion, contributing to environmental conservation and time savings for commuters.
The Danapur division is slated to undergo development works amounting to Rs 171 crore, with the foundation stone set to be laid for the revitalization of Nawada, Lakhisarai, and Chausa stations. Furthermore, three newly constructed road overbridges and six limited height subways will be inaugurated, facilitating smoother transportation across the region.
Under the Sonpur division, projects worth Rs 616 crore are scheduled for inauguration and foundation stone laying. This includes the redevelopment of Barauni, Kadhagola Road, and Shahpur Patori stations, in addition to the unveiling of two newly constructed road overbridges.
Similarly, the Samastipur division will witness the commencement of development works valued at Rs 880 crore, encompassing the redevelopment of nine railway stations and the inauguration of numerous road overbridges, underpasses, and limited height subways.
