Sasaram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on May 29, a day earlier than previously scheduled, marking his first tour of the state since Operation Sindoor. The visit is expected to hold political significance as the country approaches assembly elections later this year.

According to government sources, Modi is likely to inaugurate the newly constructed terminal of Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on May 29. The terminal, built at a cost of approximately Rs 1,216 crore, is part of a broader infrastructure push in the state.

On 30 May, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a major public rally in Bikramganj, Sasaram. The event is being positioned as a potential launchpad for the NDA’s election campaign in Bihar, with party sources indicating that Modi may use the platform to deliver a strong message on national security and counterterrorism—a theme that gained urgency following recent events, including the Pahalgam attack and India’s military response.

The rally is expected to draw thousands, and BJP workers have been mobilised across the region. This visit follows Modi’s last Bihar appearance on April 24 in Madhubani during National Panchayati Raj Day, where he warned of severe repercussions for terrorism.

Apart from political messaging, the Prime Minister is also expected to announce several major infrastructure projects, including the foundation stone for the Patna–Sasaram–Varanasi–Ranchi four-lane highway, a 600 MW power plant in Navinagar, and the expansion of Bihta airport.
