Police Lathicharge on BPSC Candidates Protesting Against 70th PT Exam
Patna: A lathicharge was carried today out by the police on candidates protesting in front of the BPSC office in Patna. The protesters were demanding the cancellation of the 70th PT exam. This protest has been ongoing for the last eight days in Patna’s Gardanibagh area.
One female protester, visibly upset, claimed she was injured during the police crackdown. “I have been hurt by the police’s lathi. I have been beaten up during a peaceful protest and chased away,” she said, tearfully. In a video circulating online, the protesters are seen pleading with folded hands, questioning why they are being treated like terrorists, as police officers insist they disperse.
Following the lathicharge, the candidates returned to their original protest site in Gardanibagh. The protesters, who had been demonstrating peacefully, continued their calls for justice.

The incident comes after a similar altercation on December 13, when Patna DM Chandrashekhar slapped a protesting candidate during a protest over allegations of a paper leak in the BPSC exam. This further fueled the unrest among candidates, leading to heightened tensions.
Independent MP Pappu Yadav has condemned the actions of the Bihar government, stating, “What is the animosity of the Bihar government with BPSC candidates? Why are they treated like terrorists, cruel criminals? Such attacks on those demanding justice are intolerable. We will sit on dharna again tonight with the resolve to completely destroy such a government.”
