Prashant Kishor Faces Backlash from Protesters as BPSC Agitation Enters 13th Day

Patna: Jan Suraj party founder Prashant Kishor faced stiff opposition from protesting candidates on Sunday night as demonstrations against the 70th preliminary examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) entered their 13th consecutive day. Kishor visited Gardanibagh late on Sunday night to meet the students but was met with anger and chants of “PK, go back.”

Tensions flared when Kishor attempted to address the protesters, only to be accused of abandoning them during a police crackdown earlier in the day. “Why have you come here after we were beaten up?” an irate protester demanded, sparking a heated exchange. “You ask for blankets from us, and now you’re showing us your Netagiri (leadership skills),” Kishor retorted. Although Kishor had previously stated he would stand with the students if police intervened, he reportedly left the protest site before the lathicharge began.

Earlier in the day, the agitation intensified after a “student parliament” was held at Gandhi Maidan on the call of Kishor. As protesters marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence, they were met with a police lathicharge, leaving several students injured. One injured protester, speaking from the hospital, said, “The police have beaten us a lot. Now there will be no talks. Our agitation will end only after the cancellation of the examination.”

Adding to the political drama, Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav visited Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Sunday night to meet the injured candidates. Yadav expressed solidarity with the students, vowing to support their demand for a re-examination.

The protests, which began over alleged irregularities in the BPSC preliminary exam, have grown more intense with each passing day. Students remain steadfast in their demand for accountability, promising to continue their agitation until the exam is cancelled.
