Prashant Kishore Granted Unconditional Bail, Will Address Media Soon in Patna
Patna: Prashant Kishore, the founder of Jansuraj Party, has been granted unconditional bail by the Patna Civil Court after his arrest earlier today. Kishore, who was on a hunger strike in support of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates, was arrested by Patna Police at 4 am. Following his court appearance, he was initially sent to Beur Jail, but due to a delay in the jail administration receiving the court order, he was temporarily taken to Beur Police Station. His team later appealed for unconditional bail, which was granted.
Kishore, who had been on a fast unto death since January 2, expressed his determination to continue the protest. He stated, “I don’t want to stop; if I stop, many will be encouraged.” He was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 but refused to accept the court’s conditional bail terms. Instead, he requested judicial custody and argued against any actions that would inconvenience the public.
Earlier in the day, when the police forcibly removed him from Gandhi Maidan, there were claims of police brutality, with supporters alleging that a police officer slapped Kishore during the removal. Despite the challenges, Kishore remains firm in his resolve to continue his hunger strike until the demands of BPSC candidates are addressed. He will address the media shortly at his Sheikhpura residence in Patna.
