Health Deteriorates After Six Days of Fasting
Dr. Ajit Pradhan and his team reached Sheikhpura House with an ambulance and shifted Kishore to the hospital. The hunger strike, aimed at demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam, has entered its sixth day. According to Dr. Ravi Shankar, Kishore’s condition is stable, and further updates will be provided after detailed examinations.
Arrest and Release Amid Hunger Strike
On January 6, Kishore was arrested by Patna police from Gandhi Maidan at 4 am and presented before the Patna Civil Court five hours later. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days, but he received unconditional bail by late evening. Following his release, he announced that the hunger strike would continue, stating, “My fast was on, is on, and will continue.”
Hunger Strike at Gandhi Maidan
Kishore began his hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan on January 2 at 5 pm, emphasizing the demands of Bihar’s youth and vowing to resolve the matter at Gandhi Maidan itself. The protest saw heavy police involvement, with supporters alleging that officers used force during the arrest.
Allegations of Police Misconduct
Supporters claim that during the arrest, a policeman slapped Kishore’s supporter while attempting to move him from the protest site. However, Kishore refuted claims of any mistreatment, saying, “The police did not slap me. One officer even gave me his jacket to keep me warm.”
Jansuraj Party’s Statement
The Jansuraj Party, in a statement, said the hunger strike will continue despite the arrest and hospitalization. “The system has bowed before the Satyagraha,” they added, reinforcing their commitment to the cause.
Bail and Court Proceedings
During his court appearance, Kishore argued against the police’s actions, highlighting alleged brutality. He was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 but refused to accept conditional release, emphasizing the public support for his movement.
