Prashant Kishore’s ‘Student Parliament’ Plan Denied Permission by Patna Administration

Patna: Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore’s proposal to organize a ‘Student Parliament’ at Gandhi Maidan has been rejected by the Patna district administration. Kishore had announced the event while meeting candidates protesting against the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) 70th PT exam on Saturday.

In its letter to the Jan Suraj Party, the district administration cited regulations prohibiting programs in front of the Gandhi statue at Gandhi Maidan. It also clarified that permissions for events at the venue require an application to the office of the Patna Divisional Commissioner at least 45 days in advance, along with no-objection clearance from various departments and police stations.

Currently, multiple events are taking place in Gandhi Maidan, including the Disneyland Fair and Kashmiri Woolen Fair, while preparations for the Horticulture Festival are underway. Additionally, work to dismantle temporary structures from the recently concluded Saras Mela is ongoing. The administration stated that insufficient free space and short notice made it impossible to grant permission for the Student Parliament.

The development comes amid growing tensions surrounding the BPSC exam protests and adds to the challenges faced by the Jan Suraj Party’s mobilization efforts.
