President Droupadi Murmu Inspires Central University of South Bihar Graduates with Vision of Progress and Responsibility
Gaya, 13th October 2023: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the third convocation of the Central University of South Bihar in Gaya, Bihar, on Friday delivering an inspirational address that emphasized the rich cultural heritage and potential of Bihar, as well as the critical role of the youth in shaping a better society, country, and world.
President Murmu commended Bihar’s historical legacy, dating back to ancient times, as a nurturing ground for talent and innovation. She noted that illustrious scholars such as Chanakya and Aryabhata had made groundbreaking contributions to society, state systems, mathematics, and science on the soil of Bihar. The President underscored the pride that stems from the fact that the world’s first democratic systems had flourished in this very land.
Moreover, the President pointed out the significance of Bihar as the birthplace of the teachings of Lord Mahavir and Lord Buddha, who advocated principles of peace, non-violence, compassion, and love. She highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s role in further enriching their message with his principle of ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’. President Murmu stressed that the teachings of these great thinkers remain profoundly relevant today and can contribute to global welfare.
She urged the young students to embrace this rich heritage and consider their role in fostering a better society, country, and world. Emphasizing the importance of social welfare and philanthropy, she encouraged students to include these values in their personal and collective goals, believing that such efforts would imbue their education with meaning and lead to success.
In a nod to the contemporary era, President Murmu lauded the contributions of Bihar’s talented individuals to India’s participation in the fourth industrial revolution, both domestically and abroad. She noted that these enterprising individuals have achieved global recognition and set high standards of progress. The President encouraged the students of South Bihar Central University to actively participate in this transformative period.
Turning her attention to the global stage, the President highlighted the issue of talent shortage faced by many countries. India’s diligent and talented youth, she emphasized, are making invaluable contributions to economies worldwide and to the advancement of knowledge and science. She proudly announced that India is now the world’s fifth-largest and fastest-growing major economy, with aspirations to become the third largest in the near future. President Murmu saw a pivotal role for the country’s youth in achieving this goal and harnessing the demographic dividend.
