
Bettiah / Patna : Security forces along the Bihar-Nepal border have stepped up vigilance as pro-monarchy movements gain traction in Nepal. Authorities in India are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any spillover effects on Indian territory.
India shares a 1,751-km international border with Nepal, with Bihar accounting for 601 km of it. In light of growing demonstrations in support of Nepal’s erstwhile monarchy, the Bihar Police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have intensified patrols along the frontier.
A senior official from India’s Central Security Force, confirmed that intelligence agencies are tracking developments across the border. “We are keeping a close watch on the evolving situation in Nepal. Security has been increased at checkpoints, and all personnel have been instructed to remain on high alert,” the official said.
High-Level Security Meetings Convened
In response to the heightened tensions, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka held a meeting in Lucknow with senior police officials to assess the situation. Discussions centred on strengthening security measures and coordinating with the SSB to prevent any disruptions along the border.
Sources indicate that the ongoing agitations in Nepal have begun to affect trade in the region. Authorities have directed police in border districts to maintain strict vigilance to ensure stability.
