Patna: Bihar’s Energy Secretary, Pankaj Kumar Pal, has directed electricity distribution companies to intensify efforts to raise awareness among farmers about the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Electricity Connection Scheme, with the aim of improving irrigation and agricultural productivity across the state.
In a review meeting held at Vidyut Bhawan, Pal instructed superintending and executive engineers from both South and North Bihar power distribution companies to organise special outreach camps at Panchayat Bhawans. He emphasised the need for proactive engagement with farmer advisors, JEEViKA livelihood groups, and ASHA workers to compile lists of potential beneficiaries and ensure the scheme reaches those most in need.
“Every zone should issue the maximum number of agricultural power connections daily,” Pal said, underscoring the scheme’s role in strengthening irrigation infrastructure and boosting farm yields.
The meeting was attended by Mahendra Kumar, Managing Director of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Dr Nilesh Ramchandra Devre, Managing Director of the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL), as well as senior headquarters officials and field engineers.
