Rahul Gandhi in Bihar: Troubles Mount as Action Likely Over Alleged Violation of CrPC Section 163

Rahul Gandhi may face legal action for allegedly violating legal protocol during a student outreach event in Darbhanga, intensifying political tensions in the state.

Darbhanga: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, may face legal action after being stopped by police during a visit to students at the Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga on Thursday.” The Congress MP was halted by the Darbhanga district administration while on his way to meet students at an Ambedkar hostel as part of his ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ (Education Justice Dialogue) campaign.

According to local authorities, Gandhi’s actions may have breached Section 163 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), and proceedings are reportedly being considered.

The Congress party has condemned the incident, calling it a suppression of democratic dialogue. “Bihar Police tried to stop me. But they cannot silence us,” Gandhi told reporters. He accused the central government of authoritarian behavior, stating, “This is not your government. It belongs to Adani and Ambani.”

Gandhi further claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi only initiated the caste census due to political pressure. “Fearing your pressure, he placed the Constitution on his forehead, but his government stands against democracy, the Constitution, and minorities,” he said.

Gandhi vowed to restore constitutional rights and conduct a caste census if his party comes to power, both in Bihar and nationally.
