Rail Disaster Averted: Loco Pilot Prevents Accident Near Gaya by Spotting Obstruction

Gaya: A potential rail accident was narrowly averted near Neyamatpur rail halt on the Gaya-Patna line late Tuesday night, thanks to the alertness of the loco pilot of the Islampur-Hatia Express. Unknown individuals had deliberately placed a concrete sleeper on the tracks, leading to the incident shortly after midnight.

The loco pilot spotted the obstruction and immediately applied emergency brakes. However, the train’s engine had already passed over the sleeper, causing it to break and be dragged into nearby bushes. Fortunately, the train came to a halt without any further damage. After the sleeper was removed, the train resumed its journey towards Gaya.

Railway Path Way Engineer Vinay Kumar filed a complaint at the Belaganj police station regarding the incident.

Belaganj police station in-charge Arvind Kumar and Jehanabad GRP in-charge Deep Narayan Yadav confirmed the event and stated that an investigation is ongoing. So far, no clues have been found regarding the perpetrators, and efforts continue to identify those responsible for placing the sleeper on the tracks.
