Railways to Provide Land for JP Ganga Path Connectivity and Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road in Patna

Patna: The Railways will allocate 18.54 acres of land at Patna Ghat for the construction of a connectivity route to JP Ganga Path, while 14.38 acres will be provided for the Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road project. Additionally, a station for local trains is set to be built on Harding Park land. The land exchange process is being conducted based on a formal evaluation.

Officials from the Path Nirman Department and the Railways had requested the Patna district administration to survey and demarcate the identified land. District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh formed a team, led by the Additional Collector (Revenue), to carry out the measurements. The team includes officials from the Railways, the Path Nirman Department, Patna City Circle Officer, and four surveyors. According to officials, the land measurement began on Thursday and will continue for two more days, with a site map and report to be submitted upon completion.

An MoU was signed in 2019 between the Railways and the Bihar government to facilitate the exchange of land. As per the agreement, the Railways would provide land at Patna Ghat for the Bihta Elevated Road near Danapur Railway Station and to connect JP Ganga Path to Patna Sahib Railway Station. In return, the state government committed to transferring land from the bus stand in front of Veer Kunwar Singh Park to the Railways.

“The demarcation process for the land exchange is underway and will be completed in the next two days,” said Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate, Patna.

Once the land is acquired, a 1.55 km-long road will be constructed to link JP Ganga Path with Patna Sahib Railway Station. Officials from Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) stated that this will be the widest road in the Patna City area. The construction will require the acquisition of eight private properties. The road is expected to follow the model of Atal Path, featuring a service road with underpasses to facilitate smooth traffic movement and eliminate the need for U-turns. The project aims to provide a congestion-free travel route for residents of Patna City.
