Ram Navami 2025: Patna Under Tight Security Cover, Traffic Restrictions Around Mahavir Mandir

Patna: In view of Ram Navami celebrations, Patna district has been placed under tight security with massive police deployment and traffic diversions, particularly around Mahavir Mandir, one of the key religious sites witnessing heavy footfall during the festival.
According to district administration officials, over 2,500 police personnel and 503 magistrates have been deployed at 388 sensitive locations across the city to maintain law and order. Around 500 police personnel have been stationed in and around Mahavir Mandir alone.
Surveillance has been intensified through CCTV cameras and drones, while medical response teams are also on standby to tackle any emergency situation. Patna SSP Avkash Kumar said that strict monitoring is being done on social media and warned that strict action would be taken against anyone spreading rumours. He also clarified that playing DJs is strictly prohibited during the festivities.
Traffic Diversions Around Mahavir Mandir
In view of the expected rush of devotees, the city traffic police have enforced several diversions:
- No vehicular entry towards Mahavir Mandir till 11 PM today. This restriction, however, does not apply to fire brigade, ambulance, or patient vehicles.
- Passengers arriving or departing from Patna Junction railway station must use the Karbighiya side.
- Entry to Patna Junction from Kotwali police station side is only permitted via Buddha Marg and the GPO ROB. Barricades have been placed to enforce this route.
Special Arrangements for Devotees
The district administration has laid out a clear plan for devotees visiting Mahavir Mandir:
- Queue formation on Buddha Marg is not allowed.
- The western end of Veer Kunwar Singh Park is designated for purchasing prasad and flowers.
- Devotees carrying prasad must enter through the western gate of Veer Kunwar Singh Park.
- The route to the temple will be via Veer Kunwar Singh Park → GPO Golambar → Mahavir Mandir. After darshan, devotees will exit towards Dakbungla Road.
Alternative Routes for Vehicles
To ease congestion, alternate traffic routes have been advised:
- Vehicles coming from Goriya Toli and Karbighiya to Patna Junction must take a U-turn from Jamal Road South.
- Those approaching via Dakbungla will be redirected to Goriya Toli via Exhibition Road.
- Processions from JP Golambar to Dakbungla Square will proceed via Swaminandan Tiraha to SP Verma Road.
- Vehicles on Buddha Marg under the flyover will be diverted via the GPO flyover.
The police have urged the public to follow instructions and cooperate for a peaceful and safe Ram Navami. Security will remain on high alert throughout the day, and further updates may be issued depending on crowd movement and local conditions.
