RCP Singh to Form New Party in Patna on October 31
Patna: Former JD (U) national president and BJP leader RCP Singh is set to leave the saffron party and launch a new political party on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The name of the new party will be revealed at a press conference at Hotel Chanakya in Patna.
Singh hinted that if people demand, he may also contest in upcoming elections. He emphasized that many people in Bihar, feeling disillusioned with the current political environment, have pushed for the formation of a new party.
Singh joined the BJP on May 11, 2023, but after not receiving a significant role within the party, he has been on the sidelines. The move to create a new party comes after supporters in Patna have displayed posters featuring his image, signaling his re-entry into active politics. He stated that he has no issues with the BJP and shares good relations with senior leaders but feels that Bihar’s political scenario requires a new direction.
Singh, a former UP cadre IAS officer and once a close confidant of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, had resigned from JD (U) in August 2022 after a fallout with the party. He was later inducted into the Union Cabinet without JDU’s approval, a move that strained his relationship with Nitish Kumar. His supporters now eagerly await the launch of his new political endeavor.
