Relief from Heatwave in Bihar as Storms and Rain Bring Temperature Down; Yellow Alert Issued for 15 Districts

Patna: Bihar residents are finally getting relief from the intense summer heat, as stormy winds and rainfall have cooled the state in recent days. The Meteorological Center, Patna, has forecast more rain and thunderstorms over the next few days, with a yellow alert issued for 15 districts.
The temperature has dropped significantly, bringing much-needed comfort. On Monday, Patna’s maximum temperature fell by 6.5 degrees Celsius, settling at 30.0 degrees Celsius. Across the state, similar drops were recorded. However, Dehri remained the hottest at 40.0 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Department, partly cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and drizzles are expected to continue in the capital and nearby areas over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, East and West Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Bhabua, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, and Rohtas districts are under alert for heavy thunder, rain, and winds blowing at speeds of 40–50 km/h.
A three to five-degree fall in maximum temperatures across the state is likely over the next 72 hours, officials added.
Rainfall and Storm Activity Across Bihar
Strong winds were reported in Gopalganj, Motihari, and Katihar districts during the last 24 hours. Rainfall was recorded in several districts including Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, East Champaran, Supaul, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, Begusarai, and Saharsa.
The highest rainfall was reported from Hayaghat in Darbhanga district, with 74.0 mm recorded. Other notable rainfall measurements include:

- 62.0 mm in Taibpur (Kishanganj)
- 51.2 mm in Darbhanga city
- 51.2 mm in Adapur (East Champaran)
- 42.4 mm in Tedhagach (Kishanganj)
- 39.0 mm in Birpur (Supaul)
- 37.0 mm in Madhepura
- 34.4 mm in Phulparas (Madhubani)
- 31.8 mm in Barauni
- 28.4 mm in Bochaha (Muzaffarpur)
- 27.2 mm in Minapur
- 24.4 mm in Beldaur (Khagaria), Bihariganj (Madhepura), and Benipatti (Madhubani)
- 24.2 mm in Jhanjharpur (Madhubani)
The Meteorological Center has forecast that weather conditions will remain normal with intermittent thunderstorms and showers in most parts of Bihar till May 2.
