RJD Accuses Bihar Government of Being Run by Retired Bureaucrats
Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has accused the Bihar government of being run by a group of retired bureaucrats, sidelining Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the state’s elected representatives. In a sharp critique, RJD leaders claimed that the government had become dysfunctional and corrupt, with little being done for the public.
“There is no such thing as a government in Bihar,” said Shakti Singh Yadav, RJD’s chief spokesperson, during a press conference. “Four retired officers from Delhi and Bihar are running the state as per their whims, while the Chief Minister merely recites a scripted narrative.”
Criticism of Leadership and Governance
The opposition party alleged that the state administration is plagued by corruption and inefficiency. Yadav accused the government of misusing public funds and failing to address the needs of the people.
“There is widespread fear of these retired officers. Even the former DGP Rajwinder Singh Bhatti was removed under pressure. These officials treat police officers as pawns, while no action is taken against criminals,” Yadav added.
The spokesperson also took aim at Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra, claiming it lacked any meaningful engagement with citizens. “The Chief Minister is not meeting people during this so-called yatra. It is nothing but a wasteful exercise, costing Rs. 2.25 billion, with no benefit for the public,” Yadav said.
Accusations of Corruption and Mismanagement
RJD state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed accused the government of prioritising personal interests over governance. “The state is being run on the basis of transfer-posting deals, orchestrated by these retired officers. The public treasury is being looted to brighten the faces of a few,” Ahmed said.
The opposition reiterated its commitment to standing with Bihar Public Service Commission candidates, whose grievances over recruitment have remained unresolved. “Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav will not rest until justice is delivered to the students,” Ahmed affirmed.
