Hajipur: In a move to bolster efforts against human trafficking, the General Manager of East Central Railway, Chhatrasal Singh, on Thursday distributed vehicles and surveillance equipment to the Railway Protection Force (RPF)’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU). The handover included eight Bolero vehicles, 22 cameras, and 44 mobile phones and took place in the presence of Principal Chief Security Commissioner Amresh Kumar and Chief Security Commissioner.
The distribution follows a grant from the Ministry of Home Affairs, awarded in recognition of the AHTU’s effective work in combating human trafficking across the railway network. The funding was used to procure essential field equipment, intended to improve operational readiness and surveillance capabilities.
The eight Bolero vehicles have been allocated as follows: one each to Danapur, Dhanbad, Sonepur and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU), and two each to Samastipur and the Railway Headquarters. The 22 cameras were distributed with Danapur receiving two, Dhanbad six, Sonepur and DDU four each, and Samastipur six. Of the 44 mobile phones, Danapur received four, Dhanbad 11, Sonepur and DDU eight each, Samastipur 11, and the Headquarters two.
Officials stated that this technological upgrade is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance surveillance, communication, and rapid response capabilities of the RPF in vulnerable regions. The equipment is expected to significantly aid in field investigations, victim rescue operations, and cross-jurisdictional coordination.
