Bhagalpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has started a new plan to stop increasing incidents of snatching, theft, and pickpocketing on trains and platforms. Under this initiative, all RPF staff, from constables to senior officers, will carry whistles while on duty. They will blow the whistle if they see anything suspicious or if there is an emergency.
Officials said this step will help alert other RPF personnel quickly and warn passengers about any possible danger. The whistle sound will act as a signal for passengers to stay careful and for criminals to stay away. The RPF believes this simple step will improve law and order on railway premises.
This decision comes after many incidents of theft and snatching were reported at Bhagalpur station and nearby trains in the last four months. Around 18 such crimes have raised serious concerns about passenger safety on trains.
In a tragic incident on April 22, a young girl from Khagaria died after falling from a train near Sabour station during a snatching attempt. The RPF hopes that using whistles will help prevent such crimes and make train journeys safer for everyone.
