Samiksha Raj Wins Inter-College Poetry Competition in Patna

Patna: Samiksha Raj from the Department of English, Patna Women’s College, secured first place in the multilingual Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition. Tarunima from the Department of Commerce, St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, claimed the runner-up position, while Khushi Kumari from the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies, Patna Women’s College, finished third.
The competition was organized by the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies, Patna Women’s College, to commemorate World Poetry Day and Bihar Diwas, observed on March 21 and 22, respectively. The event was themed Poets from Bihar: Past and Present and featured recitations in English, Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Urdu. A total of 40 students from various colleges participated, with all contestants receiving certificates.
The competition was judged by Dr. M. Saroj A.C., Head of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College, and Dr. Ragini Ranjan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology. The participants recited works by renowned poets such as Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Anamika, Gopal Singh Nepali, Alok Dhanwa, Bismil Azimabadi, and Nagarjuna.
The final results were announced by Frank Krishner, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies. The event successfully highlighted Bihar’s rich literary heritage while encouraging young poets and performers to celebrate their cultural roots through poetry.
