Gopalganj: A school bus carrying children met with a serious accident in Gopalganj, Bihar, on Thursday morning. The bus, which belonged to Nirmala Catholic School, collided with a speeding truck near the Kohwa turn on National Highway-27. More than a dozen students were injured in the crash.
According to eyewitnesses, the school bus was on its way to school when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit it at high speed. The driver of the truck tried to avoid the accident but failed. After the collision, there was chaos at the spot. Local people and passersby quickly gathered and helped rescue the children.
The injured students were taken to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital by ambulance. Some children were taken by their parents for treatment at private clinics. The police arrived at the scene soon after the incident, controlled the crowd, and cleared the traffic, which had been blocked due to the accident.
Police have seized both the school bus and the truck and are checking their condition and documents. The drivers of both vehicles are being questioned. The Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) has also been informed to investigate the cause of the accident. The police are taking further action to ensure road safety for schoolchildren.
