Schools Shut in Patna and Other Districts Until January 25 Due to Cold Wave; Rain Likely on January 27
Patna: In response to the intensifying cold wave, schools up to Class VIII in Patna, Gopalganj, Motihari, Saharsa, and Chhapra have been closed until January 25. With Republic Day on January 26 and Sunday following, these schools will now reopen on January 27.
According to the Meteorological Centre, dense fog is expected to cover most parts of the state over the next two days. Minimum temperatures are forecasted to range between 10°C and 14°C, while maximum temperatures may hover between 18°C and 22°C in most districts.
Significant temperature variations are being observed across the state. In Gaya, nighttime temperatures dipped to 10°C, while daytime highs climbed to 27.3°C.
Additionally, there is a possibility of light rainfall on January 27, as indicated by the meteorological centre. Cold-day conditions persisted in Patna and several other districts, with weather experts predicting no relief from the cold until January 31.
Impact of Westerly Winds
The sudden rise in moisture levels due to a western disturbance has led to dense fog in many districts. This has resulted in cold-day conditions across much of the state. Over the next 24 hours, dense fog is likely to persist, especially in areas near the Himalayan foothills.
