Secretary of Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Reviews Preparations for Bihar Climate Action Conclave

Patna: With the much-anticipated Bihar Climate Action Conclave just around the corner, preparations are in full swing at Gyan Bhawan in Patna. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (DoEFCC), visited the venue on Thursday to oversee the arrangements.

Accompanied by S. Chandrasekar, Member Secretary of the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), and several other officials, Preyashi conducted a thorough review of the preparations and issued instructions for ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees. Emphasizing the importance of efficient crowd management, Preyashi directed officials to facilitate hassle-free entry and exit for delegates and visitors.

In her directive towards environmental sustainability, Preyashi urged for climate-friendly practices throughout the conclave. This includes minimizing paper usage and reducing food wastage. She instructed officials to centralize all paper materials used during the event for recycling purposes post-conclave.

Meanwhile, S. Chandrasekar led a comprehensive review of the preparations for the accompanying expo, an integral component of the conclave. The expo will feature around 20 stalls showcasing innovative and effective green practices aimed at mitigating climate change. Various government bodies, private organizations, and educational institutions will participate, highlighting solutions, technologies, and initiatives for sustainable development within Bihar.

At the heart of the conclave’s agenda is the release of the strategy report titled ‘Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Development Pathway for Bihar’ by CM Nitish Kumar. Bihar, leading the nation in environmental consciousness, has developed a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions to combat global warming and mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change.

The conclave is a collaborative effort between the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (DoEFCC), the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), and WRI India. Supported by partners such as UNEP, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, and Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), the initiative aims to pave the way for sustainable development in Bihar.

The conclave will also witness the inauguration of regional offices of the BSPCB in Purnia and Bhagalpur by CM Nitish.
