Senior Bihar IAS Officer Sanjay Agarwal Moves To Centre As Joint Secretary In Ministry Of Agriculture

Patna: In a key bureaucratic reshuffle, the Bihar government has relieved senior IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Agarwal for central deputation. Agarwal, a 2002-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Agarwal, who was serving as Secretary of the Bihar Agriculture Department, brings to his new role extensive administrative experience across the state. Over the years, he has held several critical positions, including Secretary of the Bihar Transport, Water Resources and Road Construction Departments and, District Magistrate of Patna and Nalanda. Known for his hands-on approach to governance, he has been instrumental in driving reforms in public transport and urban administration during his tenure.
Alongside Agarwal, Additional Member of the Revenue Council, Daya Nidhan Pandey, has also been relieved for central deputation. He has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Steel.
Meanwhile, several top-level transfers have also been announced within the Bihar bureaucracy. Pankaj Kumar, currently Principal Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), will now take charge of the Food and Consumer Protection Department. In addition, he will hold additional responsibility as Secretary of the Agriculture Department and as Investigation Commissioner in the General Administration Department. Kumar will also serve as Managing Director of the Bihar State Food and Military Supply Corporation.
Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Energy Department, has been shifted to head the PHED Department. Manoj Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Health Department, will now serve as Secretary of the Energy Department, with additional responsibilities as Special Officer at the Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi and as Chairman and Managing Director of the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited.
