Shivdeep Lande Denies Plans to Join Any Political Party Following Resignation from IPS
Patna: Shivdeep Lande, the Inspector General (IG) of Purnia and a popular figure known for his tough stance against crime, has dismissed speculation about his involvement in politics following his resignation from the Indian Police Service (IPS). Lande, who resigned from his post on Thursday, clarified in a Facebook post that reports suggesting his entry into a political party are “completely false.”
“There are some media reports claiming that I am joining a political party, which is entirely untrue,” Lande wrote. “I have not spoken to any party, nor am I planning to join one.” The former IPS officer further expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received following his resignation announcement, adding, “I had never imagined that I would receive the love and response that I have been receiving since yesterday.”
Lande’s decision to resign came as a surprise to many. In his emotional farewell post on social media, he wrote about his dedication to Bihar during his 18 years of service, often prioritizing his duty above his personal and family life. “I have resigned from the Indian Police Service today, but I will stay in Bihar, which will remain my karmabhoomi in the future too,” he had stated.
Following his resignation, there was widespread speculation that Lande, often referred to as “Singham” in Bihar for his fearless approach to policing, might enter the political arena. However, the former IPS officer has now put those rumors to rest, firmly denying any plans to join a political party.
Lande began his career as an IPS officer in Munger, quickly earning a reputation for his integrity and hands-on approach. His tenure saw numerous crackdowns on crime, earning him widespread public admiration.
