Shravani Mela: Bihar’s Bhagalpur Authorities Launch Security Overhaul Ahead of July Festival

Bihar police to set up eight assistant stations and tighten security for Shravani Mela 2025 in Bhagalpur.

Bhagalpur: Authorities in the district are intensifying security arrangements ahead of the world-renowned Shravani Mela, which is set to commence on 11 July. In a move to strengthen on-ground policing, eight assistant police stations will be established across key locations within the mela zone.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hridaykant, along with City SP Shubhank Mishra, Law and Order DSP Chandrabhushan, and several other senior officers including DSPs from Cyber, Headquarters, City Two and Railways, visited Sultanganj — a focal point of the religious gathering — to oversee preparations. The high-level police delegation held a coordination meeting at the Nagar Parishad office with SHOs and officers from police stations that fall within the fair’s perimeter.

The meeting focused extensively on the deployment of personnel, crowd control measures, and rapid response strategies to address potential emergencies. Speaking after a late-evening inspection of the fairgrounds, SSP Hridaykant said, “All necessary directives have been issued. We are committed to ensuring that all security preparations are finalised well before the commencement of the Shravani Mela.”

Officials confirmed that separate routes will be designated for hearse and garbage vehicles to avoid congestion and ensure smooth logistical movement throughout the event.
