Sitamarhi Gears Up for Grand Festivities Ahead of Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecration

Sitamarhi: The Mithila region is bustling with excitement and fervor as the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla approaches in Ayodhya. Parallel to the celebrations in Ayodhya, every household and Math-Temple in Sitamarhi, Mother Janaki’s maternal home, is enveloped in an atmosphere of enthusiasm.

Temples echo with the resonant tunes of Ramdhun and bhajan-kirtan. The city is abuzz with preparations for a grand Deepotsav celebration, aiming to illuminate over one million Ramjyots in Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Sita. Schoolgirls are actively contributing to the preparations, underscoring the community-wide participation in the event.

Various locations are slated for lighting Ramjyots, including 51,000 earthen lamps at Janaki Janmabhoomi Punuradham, 21,000 at Rajat Dwar Janaki Temple and Urvija Kund, 11,000 at Panth Pakad, Haleshwar Sthan, Bagahi Dham, Vaishnav Temple, Narayan Ram Janaki Math, and 1 lakh at Janakpur Dham. The collective goal is to illuminate more than one million lamps at numerous temples and Maths across the district.

The Deepotsav, scheduled for Monday, will be marked by the illumination of Ramjyot. The city is adorned with Mahaviri flags and Shri Ram flags, creating an ambiance of serenity. Nava Mahayagya, under the guidance of Mahant Kaushal Kishore Das, is underway in the Punauradham temple complex, enhancing the spiritual ambiance.

The Punauradham temple complex is adorned with vibrant flowers and captivating lights. Sita Kund, the birthplace of Sita, will witness Ganga Aarti on Monday, accompanied by the lighting of 11,000 Ramjyots throughout the temple complex. Flags are unfurled from Gaushala Chowk to Bhoraha Chowk, encapsulating the entire district in the festive spirit.

Special arrangements are in progress at Rajat Dwar Janaki Temple, positioned at the heart of the city, for the momentous celebration. On Monday, Janaki Temple Urvija Kund will sparkle with 21,000 lamps, and fireworks will illuminate the entire city. Suvansh Rai, Secretary and former Chairman of Municipal Council Sitamarhi, said that houses will be adorned from Sonapatti to Janaki Temple, enhancing the visual spectacle.

On Monday, the Janaki temple will host a 24-hour Ashtayam and Bhakti Jagran in the evening. Elaborate preparations are underway to embellish the Janaki temple with hundreds of tons of flowers and captivating lights. To make the housewarming celebration even more memorable, plans are in motion to illuminate the city surrounding the Janaki temple. A live telecast of Ramlala’s consecration ceremony in Ayodhya will be displayed on a large LED screen in the temple complex, enabling the community to partake in the historic event.
