Slight respite from Sweltering Heat as Mercury Dips, IMD Cautions of Hot Days Ahead
Patna: Residents had a slight respite from the surging mercury on Monday as the maximum temperature was recorded above 40n degrees C only four places in the state, including Madhubani, Siwan, West Chanparan and Saharsa. Also, heatwave was not declared anywhere in the state. The maximum temperature in capital city Patna was recorded at 38.6 degrees C.
However, yellow alert for hot day conditions is in place over the next two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory asking people to leave their homes from 11 am to 3 pm only if there is an urgent need. Meanwhile, the entire state is experiencing severe heat due to dry hot north-westerly winds, scorching sun and continuous lack of humidity in the atmosphere coming from Rajasthan.
Met department scientist SK Patel said the maximum mercury could remain at 41 to 43 degrees Celsius during the next two days. During the next 24 hours, surface hot winds of 10 to 20 kmph and gusts with gusts of 25 to 30 kmph are expected during the day from Buxar to Bhagalpur.
On April 26, the Western Disturbance is set to knock once again. It is expected to take effect from April 29-30. However, the weather is unlikely to improve by April 27.
