
Patna: A 20-year-old student died after being hit by the Okha-Guwahati Express while crossing the railway tracks at Barh station in Patna on Sunday. The incident occurred around 12 noon on platform number two, shortly after the student, Preeti Kumari, had arrived at the station to visit a library.
According to police, Preeti was a regular visitor to Barh for study purposes. She was attempting to cross the tracks when the express train hit her, killing her on the spot. Her belongings, including a school bag and a mobile phone, were recovered at the scene.
Railway police arrived promptly and removed the body from the tracks, allowing rail traffic to resume shortly afterward. Sub-inspector Nitish Kumar said that the family was alerted to the incident after a call was received on the victim’s mobile. Once the family arrived, the body was taken for postmortem to the sub-divisional hospital in Barh. The victim’s father, Anil Paswan, is a farmer.
