Teachers in Bihar Face Wage Suspensions for Incomplete Classes

CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav Hand Over Joining Letters to 25,000 Newly Appointed Teachers at Patna

Patna – The Education Department has mandated that teachers in all state universities and colleges must conduct a minimum of five classes daily; otherwise, their wages for that day will be suspended. In instances where there are no students in a college’s classrooms, instructors are required to conduct classes in nearby institutions.

This directive applies to both new and existing instructors in universities and colleges across the state. The Education Department has instructed the respective chancellors of all universities to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

According to an order signed by Education Department Secretary Baidyanath Yadav, inspections have revealed discrepancies in the allocation of teaching responsibilities among instructors at universities and colleges across various levels.

Moreover, the established routine lacks specifics regarding teacher names, class identification, and numbers, leading to doubts about classroom management among students. Consequently, the syllabus remains incomplete within the specified timeframe, despite an increase in student numbers at universities and colleges.

In light of this, all chancellors are urged to devise and effectively implement a new routine. Immediate disciplinary action, including the suspension of wages, will be taken against principals and instructors found negligent in addressing this matter.

The Education Department has alerted all chancellors, principals, and instructors to ensure the completion of syllabi within the stipulated timeframe. In cases where the allocation of all classes becomes impractical, instructors are to be deployed to other nearby colleges to fulfill the remaining classes. Failure to comply will result in wage suspensions for those instructors.

Weekly reports regarding these matters will be made available to the Education Department for review.
