Teachers in Bihar to be Transferred by December 31: Applications Open November 6 with 10 Transfer Options
Patna: In a major announcement for Bihar’s 385,000 government school teachers, the state Education Department has launched a new online system for transfers and postings. Teachers will be able to submit their transfer applications from November 6, choosing up to 10 preferred locations. The entire process is set to be completed by December, with teachers expected to report to their new postings in early January 2025.
The initiative, confirmed by Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, will streamline the transfer-posting process through dedicated software. District education officials have been briefed, and internal trials of the software will be conducted over the next few days to ensure smooth functioning. Applications will be open from November 6 to 20, allowing teachers to update their preferences multiple times during this period.
According to Dr. Siddharth, priority in transfers will be given to teachers facing serious health issues, those with disabilities, and women, who may select options outside their home panchayats. Transgender teachers are also eligible to apply. The process will be managed at the district level, with a committee available to address any issues arising post-placement.
Once applications close, the Education Department will conduct final tests on the software and release the transfer list by December, ensuring that teachers can begin their new assignments from January 1, 2025.
