Teenager shot dead in Bihar after dispute over Online Game
Begusarai: A 15-year-old student was killed in Begusarai after an argument while playing an online game on his mobile phone. Four youths have been detained in connection with the case.
A 15-year-old boy was shot dead in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Saturday following a dispute while playing an online mobile game. The victim, identified as Rahul Kumar, was a Class 10 student preparing for his matriculation examination, which was scheduled for 17 February.
According to police reports, Rahul was playing an online game with his friends about 500 metres from his home when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated, and one of his friends allegedly shot him in the head. He died on the spot, while the suspects fled the scene.
The incident took place in Baro Bhittha Tola, under the jurisdiction of Phulwaria police station. Local residents reported hearing a gunshot after Rahul had been playing for nearly an hour. Upon rushing to the scene, they saw a group of boys running away, with one of them screaming.
Rahul was found lying on the ground, covered in blood. Neighbours rushed him to a private nursing home, where doctors declared him dead. The police were immediately informed, and senior officers, including Teghra DSP Dr. Ravindra Mohan Prasad and SP Manish, arrived at the scene to begin an investigation.
Family background and investigation
Rahul’s grandfather was a retired railway employee, while his father, Niranjan Kumar Yadav, works as a labourer at an e-rickshaw showroom. Rahul lived with his aunt and sister in Kasaha and occasionally worked as a labourer at local events and catering functions with his uncle and other relatives.
DSP Prasad stated: “An unknown person shot and killed a youth named Rahul. We recovered a shell from the crime scene and are investigating all possible angles. The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and we are questioning the suspects in custody.”
SP Manish added: “Rahul was playing a mobile game with some friends near an unfinished house behind his home when gunfire was heard. He was shot and later taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.”
