Tej Pratap Set to Begin Pilot Training in Bihar After Clearing Aviation Interview

RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has been selected for pilot training by the Directorate of Civil Aviation, clearing the interview for the Commercial Pilot License course. He will now begin training at Bihar Flying Institute.

Patna: RJD MLA and the elder son of Lalu Prasad, Tej Pratap Yadav has cleared the interview conducted by the Directorate of Aviation Training, paving the way for his admission into a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) course. He is among 18 candidates selected to undergo training at the Bihar Aviation Institute.

The development comes weeks after Tej Pratap posted photos of himself in a pilot’s uniform on his X account, expressing his willingness to contribute to national service. The post followed a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the Indian Army’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. “If my pilot training can serve the nation, I am ready,” he wrote, alongside an image in full aviation attire. The post sparked a wave of online discussion and political commentary.

In a follow-up, Tej Pratap shared another picture, this time from inside a cockpit, addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requesting a role in national defence efforts. “I wish to face the enemies alongside our security forces on the border,” he said, appealing to be given a chance to serve the country as an aviator.

According to aviation directorate sources, Tej Pratap had applied for admission into both Private and Commercial Pilot License (CPL) courses. He cleared the required interview, and his name now appears on the list of selected candidates published by the Directorate.

He participated in the 2023–24 interview process for admission to the CPL course and passed successfully. The Directorate of Flight Training has now published the final selection list. Placed fifth in the merit order and chosen under the general category, he is one of 18 candidates selected for the 20-seat program.
