Thousands Take Holy Dip at Simaria Ghat in Begusarai for Mauni Amavasya

Begusarai: Simaria Dham in Begusarai witnessed a massive influx of devotees on Wednesday as thousands gathered to take a ritual dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The sacred Uttarayani Ganga bank was filled with chants of Har Har Gange as pilgrims sought spiritual purification through the holy waters.

The overwhelming turnout led to heavy congestion on Rajendra Setu from early morning, with the steady flow of worshippers expected to continue until late evening. Devotees, immersed in religious fervour, sang hymns and offered prayers, expressing their reverence for the river.

According to Hindu beliefs, bathing in the Ganga on Mauni Amavasya is considered highly auspicious, believed to cleanse one’s sins and fulfil desires. A local priest explained that worshippers often visit nearby Shiva temples after their holy dip, chanting mantras in devotion to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

“In Simaria, many devotees also offer a goat to the Ganga in gratitude for their wishes being fulfilled,” the priest said.
