Three Transgender Candidates Make History in Bihar Police Recruitment
Patna: Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced the results of the Police Sub Inspector Recruitment Exam, with 1,275 candidates successfully passing. This includes 822 men, 450 women, and, for the first time, three transgender individuals, marking a significant step towards inclusion in the state’s law enforcement.
The recruitment process saw 5.35 lakh candidates taking the exam, which was held on December 17, 2023. Following the preliminary exam, 25,405 candidates advanced to the main written examination, from which 7,623 were shortlisted for the final stages.
Document verification for the shortlisted candidates took place from June 10 to June 19 at Shaheed Rajendra Prasad Singh High School (Patna High School), Gardnibagh. Out of those, 6,788 candidates completed the verification process, while 835 did not attend. Subsequently, 3,727 candidates were deemed eligible for the final selection phase, resulting in 1,275 successful candidates.
The recruitment was conducted for 1,275 posts, distributed across various categories: 275 for SC, 16 for ST, 238 for Very Backward Class, 107 for Backward Class, 82 for Backward Class Women, 111 for EWS, and 5 for Transgender candidates.
The inclusion of transgender individuals in the final selection is a landmark achievement, highlighting BPSSC’s commitment to diversity and equal opportunities in public service.
