Lakhisarai/ Patna: Unruly youths halted the Howrah-Mokama train for nearly 30 minutes on Tuesday evening in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district, assaulting passengers and misbehaving with women. The incident occurred around 5 pm at Bhalui halt between the Kiul-Jhajha railway section, where the attackers pulled the emergency chain to stop the train before assaulting six passengers. The miscreants fled after the attack, leaving the victims to seek help at Jamui station, where the Government Railway Police (GRP) arranged medical treatment for the injured.

The victims, all residents of Dadpur in Jhajha, Jamui district, were returning from Simaria Ghat after performing Shraddha rituals when the attack took place. According to eyewitnesses, two to three youths boarded the train at Mananpur station and began harassing women passengers. When the family members objected, the youths called around a dozen accomplices, who stopped the train at Bhalui halt and launched a violent assault.

Among those injured were Jitendra Paswan, Ravi Paswan, and Dilip Paswan. The attackers also misbehaved with women passengers before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, the victims staged a protest on the railway tracks at Bhalui halt, delaying the train’s departure for nearly half an hour. They later reached Jamui station and reported the attack to the GRP around 8 pm.

GRP in-charge Manoj Kumar Dev confirmed that all injured passengers were sent to Jamui Sadar Hospital for treatment. Authorities are reviewing video footage of the incident to identify and apprehend the attackers.
